When to book your newborn session…
Newborn sessions take place during the first 25 days of life while babies are still flexible to curl into those sweet, sleeping poses. To ensure availability, I suggest booking in the 2nd trimester. (If your baby is already here, feel free to inquire about a last minute session. I will do my best to accommodate you in the first 25 days.) When you book, I pencil your due date on my calendar to secure your session. When your little one arrives you will need to contact me within 48 hours to schedule the actual session during the first 25 days. So there is absolutely no need to worry if your little one decides to come a little earlier or later.

What to expect from your newborn session...
Newborn sessions take place in my studio located in Houston, TX. Sessions typically last from 2 to 3 hours. Much of this time is spent feeding, rocking and soothing baby into a deep sleep. Your newborn session is a great time to relax, kick your shoes off, sip on a cup of coffee and let me do the rest. You can be sure that your baby is in good hands, as I have over nine years of professional experience with newborn babies.

My style…
Have you taken a peek at my gallery of work? Click here to see my portfolio. My style is very simple with minimal props. I love the use of color, neutrals, and textures. I love to showcase those squishy back wrinkles, and oh boy, do I ever love a baby in a bucket! If there is a certain heirloom item or prop that you would like to incorporate during your session, I will definitely try to include this. However, please limit outside props to one per session. If you love my style, contact me here!

About the studio...
The studio is kept very warm for baby's comfort. Please keep this in mind when dressing for the session. The studio is well stocked with props, blankets, hats, headbands and wraps.

What to bring...
All you need to bring is formula and/or breast milk and your sweet baby. I also highly encourage you to consider offering a pacifier to baby during the session. Although it is true that newborns sleep the majority of their day during this stage at home, it is a little different during the photo session. In the studio we are transitioning from one pose to the next, wrapping and unwrapping while trying to keep baby asleep. In order to keep baby content during this time a pacifier can be a big help.

Dressing for your session...
If you plan to be included in a few photos with your baby, I suggest solid, neutral colors. These photos will only show your top half and be tightly cropped. The goal for these first family photos is a clean, timeless look. With the studio being warm during the session, feel free to dress in layers or bring something more comfy to change into.

Siblings...
I love to include a few shots of baby with the proud big brother or sister. However, if siblings will be included in the session, I ask that someone (grandma or aunt) be available to bring them at the end of the session. This will give us a quiet environment to focus on the newborn. For siblings attire during the shoot, I suggest the same as for parents; solids and neutrals.

For NICU graduates…
For babies that spend time in NICU, not to worry, we can still do a session after discharge. If your baby is in NICU, you will need to contact me BEFORE discharge so that we can get them in the studio as soon as possible after they get home. If you have already booked a session with me, please still contact me as soon as baby is born. We will keep an open conversation with updates on possible discharge dates to get you in the studio as soon as possible after discharge.
